The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is one of the UK's leading Higher Education Institutions for art, design and architecture. Our main campus is based in Garnethill in the heart of Glasgow City Centre and students come from all over the world to study with us. We believe that diversity among our staff and students makes GSA a vibrant place to study and enriches the lives of all who spend time with us. 

Widening Participation (WP) to Higher Education is a priority for the Scottish Government which seeks to ensure that everyone, regardless of their social or financial circumstances, has an equal chance to study at university. The Glasgow School of Art receives funding from the Scottish Government via the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) to help us deliver Widening Participation activity for specific groups who are under-represented at GSA and within Higher Education across Scotland.

Our dedicated Widening Participation team delivers a year-round programme of activities for eligible young people. Studying at university is a great experience and we want to make sure that the people we work with have access to the information and experiences they need in order to choose the courses which are best suited to them based on their interests, aptitudes and future career ambitions.

The goal of our Widening Participation programme is to help the young people we work with to build a strong portfolio for application to college or art school and to support them into the next step of their educational journey. Eligible pupils can start working with us when they begin S4 and continue with our programme all the way through to S6. All of our activities are free of charge and take place as far as possible in the evening, at weekends and during school holidays, so they don’t clash with the school timetable.
